The Union Minister for Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, and the Union Minister for External Affairs, Dr. S Jaishankar, jointly launched the Study in India (SII) portal. This website is designed to provide information about higher education institutions (HEIs) in India.

The portal showcases academic programs offered by these institutions, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, as well as courses related to Indian Knowledge System (IKS) like Yoga, Ayurveda, classical arts, and more. It also provides details about academic facilities, research support, and other relevant information available in these institutes.

Students will be able to apply to multiple institutes or courses of their choice through this portal. It serves as a one-stop spot for student registration, visa application, course selection, and receiving offer letters from the institutes. The program aims to streamline and organize the application process for international students seeking higher education opportunities in India.

To participate in the Study in India program, educational institutions need to meet specific criteria, including being ranked within the top 100 by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), having a National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation score of 3.01 or higher, or being designated as Institutes of National Importance (INI).

The Ministry of Education (MoE) oversees the program, which seeks to attract more international students to India and promote the country as a preferred study destination, offering affordable and high-quality education in line with global standards.

During the launch event, the Education Minister emphasized that the SII portal simplifies the academic journey of international students in India, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP) and the government’s commitment to making India a preferred education destination. The Union Minister for External Affairs added that the portal signifies India’s ambition to become a global hub of education, welcoming students from diverse backgrounds.

Apart from the ministers, ambassadors from over 10 countries and students from various nations currently studying in India also attended the event.
